Dog Drive Mantis returns with their newest release, Royal Raceway. A new re-imagining of an original score from the classic retro video game Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64). The new jazz-fusion, indie / progressive rock inspired group takes you through much more than just the race. In fact, the track starts right from the title screen, navigating through the character select screen and eventually tides into a fun romp through all 3 laps - each with their own unique stylistic genres. Lap 1 imitates the original score, while lap 2 transitions into a more in depth variation which leads the listener into a slow 'reggae / samba beat' style. Lap 3 starts hard and ends even harder with a fast paced energetic tempo layered under a ripping saxophone solo. Eventually the listener ends up in first place and is taken through the 'results screen', the final section of track which ends off on a intense parodistic 'thrashy' variation of the results theme.
